Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Gerald Cockshott

Letter No.: VWL4749

The White Gates,
Dorking,

24th March, 1949.

Dear Mr. Cockshott,
Thank you very much for your copy of the “Musical Times”.
I cannot say, from what I know of Nielson’s1 music that it excites me very much.
I am glad to hear that the New Music people are doing your choral work.
When you finish your big work we will try and arrange to go through it together.
Yours sincerely,
R Vaughan Williams

(R. Vaughan Williams).

Gerald Cockshott, Esq.,

Surrenden Road,
Brighton 6, Sussex.

1. sic. Presumably Cockshott had sent the issue of Musical Times for March 1949, which incuded an article on Nielsen.
