Oct 4 [1945]
Dear Mr Cockshott
there are some important omissions in your list
– Gerald Finzi whom I consider the most important of the modern English song writers
– I am sending some under separate cover
– & am asking OUP1 to send you the Hardy & the Milton songs
2. Milford – His songs are delightful – I enclose his Hardy songs & requesting OUP to send you his childrens songs “Rainbows & sunshine” – could you not also send them Grace Williams’ Welsh Folk songs.
Also you must not let false modesty prevent your sending those delightful childrens (or unison)? songs of your own
Yrs sincerely
R Vaughan Williams
also Holst The heart worships & Rig Veda solo songs (probably Stainer & Bell)
