Dear Miss Sharp
I enclose a letter from Hubert Foss of the Oxford Press about our opera.1
I don’t know what you think about it – or are you tired of the whole thing and would you prefer some arrangement by which you should hand all your work over to me and have no more to do with it except of course as regards appropriate emoluments – if any – ?
Yours sincerely
R Vaughan Williams
1. The Poisoned Kiss. Sharp was the librettist.

General Notes:
The letter does not survive but Oxford University Press did agree to publish the opera, presumably with a number of conditions about the libretto, which was subsequently revised by Foss’s brother, William (Kennedy, Works of Vaughan Williams, p.249), and eventually, after VW had bought our Evelyn Sharp’s copyright from her executors, by UVW.
In the hand of AVW, signed by VW. -
