Letter No.: VWL382
13 Cheyne Walk
Monday [1st April 1912]
Dear Mr. Farrar,1
Many thanks for your kind letter and programme. I’m so glad your concert was a success and I wish I could have heard your orchestra play.2 I hope I may see your new choral suite when next you come to London.3
Yours very sincerely
R. Vaughan Williams3
1. At this time Farrar was organist of St Hilda’s Church, South Shields.
2. Farrar had included an ‘Orchestral Impression’ by VW in his concert on 27th March; apparently it was Harnham Down, according to annotation on copy of South Shields Gazette advertisement on March 8th.
2. The suite was his Out of doors, op.14, for chorus, orchestra.
