[May 1935]
Dear Bessy
It was wonderful of you to write – & I value your opinion very much (not only when favourable!)
I quite got to like it myself in the end. The first rehearsal was unimaginable chaos. But the orchestra & Adrian worked like Trojans for 4 rehearsals – & things gradually cleared themselves – chiefly owing to Adrian’s real insight.1
I am so glad to think that you are well enough to go home tomorrow & hope you are really better – what a trying time you must have had.
Yrs
