Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Edward J. Dent

Letter No.: VWL328

[April 1910]

Dear Dent

Please forgive the dirty sheet – I enclose the programme as far as I can – but I cannot get an answer out of Elwes as to his group.
I don’t know if it would be a good plan, in yr opinion, to put on the programme the dates at which the various works were composed – its just as you like.
– If you care to add them they are as follows:-
5tet 1903-5
Song cycle 1906-9
4tet 1908

Wd you tell me
(a) what time the concert is
(b) whether there is a train which will get the players back to town
(c) whether the 4tet cd have the Guildhall in the afternoon for a rehearsal.

How is your 4tet getting on?
Yrs

RVW

P.S. I don’t keep any op. numbers
P.S. I got leave from Houseman1 for my concert – I think the only way is to print & say nothing about it – it’s always done – It’s no good asking again.
