13 Cheyne Walk,
Chelsea, S.W.

Oct 6th [1914]

Dear Dent

I expect you’ve had enough of my symphony by now.1
There is to be, after all, a performance in Edinburgh beginning of November2 – so I’ve got to get the score ready by then.
If you have allready done the string parts of no II, I might have them back to get the wind parts put in. I must just thank you once again – & do let me know if I can do anything about your book.
Yrs
R. Vaughan Williams

1. This refers to the collaborative reconstruction of the full score of the London Symphony, Catalogue of Works 1913/5, organised by George Butterworth from the orchestral parts after the original score was lost in Germany. See R.V.W.: a biography, p.113-114
2. Performance at Usher Hall, 30 November.
3. Mozart’s Operas: A Critical Study, 1913 which Dent apparently asked VW to read and comment on or possibly review; see VWL350 and VWL351.
