Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Douglas Kennedy
Letter No.: VWL4929
16th January 1938
Dear Douglas
I don’t feel much drawn to this – its too realistic and not idealized enough I feel. I must read through the poem again carefully and make suggestions.1
I feel now something shorter – just the two lovers meeting at the head of the stairs surrounded by singers and dancers.
Yours ever
R Vaughan Williams
