Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Diana Awdry
Letter No.: VWL959
From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.
[27 July 1936]
Dear Diana
I think your festival would like Judith1 – it’s not as hard as the Brahms Requiem – or as “The Explorers”2. Will you let me know as we have to tell Novellos how many copies we want- 350 will cost £45 & 500 £55.
If you take it how many copies would you want? Roughly 45 minutes – but you might make some cuts.
We are doing Carmen for our Div II – wd your Div II like that.
Are you going to be at Hereford on August 27?
Love from
Uncle Ralph
