… Many thanks for sending me Karl Straube’s delightful and appreciative letter. We all liked him so much and it was a great honour to have him with us for our festival…1


1. Straube was organist of the Thomaskirche in Leipzig. In April 1926 5y3 Aberdeen Press reported that it was likely that he would be in London for the forthcoming Bach Festival, as a result of contact between him and Sanford Terry. The festival was in Westminster Central Hall in June, and VW conducted the Bach Choir on 7, 8, 9 and 11 June in several Bach works and VW’s Sancta Civitas.
