Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Cecil Armstrong Gibbs
Letter No.: VWL1696
Dorking.
Oct 1st [1942]
Dear Armstrong
Your splendid letter1 revives many pleasant memories – If I have succeeded, when normally unhelpful, in helping you to realize yourself more and to achieve all the good things you have done then my 70 years will not have been altogether wasted.
But I wish I could have taught myself how to compose – I seem to get worse instead of better.
Yrs
R. Vaughan Williams
1. Presumably a letter of good wishes to RVW for his 70th birthday.
