1.Three Shakespeare Songs (Catalogue of Works 1951/3, p.222). See VWL2005.
2. The work was used as a test piece at the British Federation of Music Festivals National Competitive Festival in 1951. Gibbs, who was the adjudicator for the competition, which ran during the week ending 23 June 1951, conducted the Three Shakespeare Songs in the final concert in the 23rd, in the presence of Princess Elizabeth.

The year must be 1949 – see reference in VWL2005 which is dated June 1950 and is clearly after this letter, although the date ‘1950’ has been added in another hand.
