[24 February 1954]
To Cambridge University Music Society
Thank you all for a splendid performance last night.1 I know well how much natural talent, hard work and devotion to artistic ideals this has involved.
You know, as well as I, that this could not have been achieved without the inspired leadership of Boris Ord and Dennis Arundell; and they know that their work would have been wasted if they had not had such a noble army to lead to victory.

1. The Pilgrim’s Progress had been given by Cambridge University Music Society in a production by Dennis Arundell conducted by Boris Ord. It ran from 23-27 February; VW attended on the 23rd, possibly also the 24th. See R.V.W.:a biography, pp.343-344.
