Dear Sir
If you have anybody capable of arranging my “Pilgrim’s Progress” music for string quartet and two trumpets satisfactorily you are at liberty to do so, but I cannot see how it is possible.
R. Vaughan Williams
P.S. I must see the result before it is used.

General Notes:
Typewritten with manuscript postscript.
Written in response to a request for permission to make an arrangement of the Pilgrim’s Progress incidental music,Catalogue of Works 1942/3, for six players, probably a string quartet and two trumpets. The music was to be used with a performance of a German version of a radio play based on Pilgrim’s Progress. UVW doesn’t think that the arrangement was ever made. -
