Thank you very much for the chant.  Your pointing at bar a. is quite correct.  I thought it was a good performance of the London Symphony,1 and I am glad you thought so.  I do hope we shall meet at Worcester.2

1. A London Symphony was played at the Promenade Concerts on 5 August, by Malcolm Sargent and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. VW may have gone to the concert or listened to the broadcast. The symphony was the only part of the concert to be broadcast, on the Third Programme at 8.15 pm.
