Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Anthony Scott
Letter No.: VWL2120
The White Gates,
Dorking,
SURREY.
29th November, 1950
Dear Scott,1
I was very glad to hear your work2 and I think it is going to be extremely good, but please do not take my advice – it is always a mistake to take advice. What you have got to do is to see for yourself what you think of my suggestions. If you reject them then you will be all the stronger in your own opinion, which will be to the good. But never take anybody’s opinion unless you find you entirely agree with it. After all you know more about the work than I do.
Please give my kind regards to your Wife and I hope that one day we shall meet again.
Yrs
R. Vaughan Williams
