Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Anthony Scott

Letter No.: VWL2213

The White Gates,
Dorking,
Surrey.

10th April, 1951

Dear Anthony

I should like to help you about the Concerto very much, but I think we shall have to put off until after April 26th, when my mind will be more clear of other things.1
I think the C.P.N.M.2  are drawing in their horns due to lack of funds.
Yrs

1. VW is modestly not referring to the fact that Pilgrim’s Progress was to have its first night then and he was much taken up with rehearsals etc.
2. Committee for the Promotion of New Music, founded by Francis Chagrin in January 1943. From 1952 it became the Society for the Promotion of New Music. VW was President.
