I am so glad you feel inclined to undertake this idea.  Of course you can use the tune in its original rhythm, and not balderised¹ as I had to do in the English Hymnal.
I would rather you finished it without me, and then if I can give you any advice I shall be delighted.
I shall be pleased and proud for you to dedicate your new work to me.
