The White Gates,
 Dorking,

5th May, 1949.

Dear Alice

I understand from Joyce Finzi that you are running a “boarding-house” for the Hereford Festival.  May I join in?  I would so much rather be with you than be a guest of some Ecclesiastical dignitary.
I believe Ursula Wood is also coming to the Festival and would like to come as well and be one of the members of your party.  Do you think there would be room for her?
Love to John & all the family
