Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Alexander Burnard
Letter No.: VWL3993
From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.
May 14 1939
Dear Burnard
Thankyou very much for saying you will be kind to my refugees.1
As regards your songs it is always worth while trying – But you must be prepared for a rebuff for songs are not popular with publishers at present.
– I have tried O.U.P. as you know – I do not know any others except Stainer & Bell & Curwen – who I fear are not much good.
Yrs
R Vaughan Williams
