Dear Alan,

Very exciting to hear about the three performances of Sir John in America.  I suppose it would not be possible to send them a copy of the “acting edition” which, as you remember, shoves some bits from the appendix into the middle of the script?  This is the version which was done at Sadlers Wells and elsewhere, and I think was successful.
