1. Music Editor at Oxford University Press in succession to Norman Peterkin (1947); Head of Music from 1954 until his retirement in 1975.
2. John Churchill, in charge of music at St Martin-in-the-Fields, had submitted an arrangement for SATB of the Bird’s Song (i.e. the twenty-third psalm) from Act IV of The Pilgrim’s Progress. This was published in 1953 – see Catalogue of Works 1951/1b.
