Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Alan Frank

Letter No.: VWL2061

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

[November 1950]

Dear Frank1

Herewith the libretto – I make no promises that it will not be largely [or] even fundamentally altered during rehearsal. I cannot thank you enough for all you did on Saturday – my jeremiads were as usual unfounded & I was much comforted – you know me by now & have, I hope, always a pinch of salt ready in your trouser pocket.
I forget whether you were still there when they asked Mrs  Wood to write about the stories, on which subject the modern boys and girls are extremely ignorant – the question is shall it go into the copy or be a separate pamphlet – I prefer the former.2
Yrs
