I find we cannot start till Sunday – but we shall meet in Prag on Monday1
I feel rather alarmed at meeting the Freaks.2

1. The VWs were off to attend the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) Festival in Prague where the Pastoral Symphony (conducted by Boult) was to be given as the British contribution. See also VWL579, VWL583 and VWL585.
2. ‘The ‘freaks’ were the musicians espousing contemporary music; he referred to the festival as the ‘freak festival’ (see VWL579).
