From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.

June 2nd 1956.

My dear Adrian,

I am so sorry we cannot after all come either on the eighth or the ninth: we have had a delightful invitation from the Finzis for those nights: I have important things I want to talk over with Gerald, and in addition to that I very much want Ursula to have two days in the country to refresh her after a fortnight’s overwork. I think you have all my new corrections in No 4 but I am not quite sure about the final note of the second movement. I always felt that the F was wrong, & the Lord came down one day and told me that it ought to be E natural: see enclosed slips.
Our love to Ann.
