Dear Sir,
We wish to support the appeal which you are making for the release from internment of Mr. Robert Müller-Hartmann.¹
He is a musician of the first rank, who, since he came to this country three years ago, has been making a valuable study of English music. Incidentally, his advice with regard to German music and musicians was of the greatest assistance in the promotion of the recent series of Tea Time Concerts.
He is a man of the highest integrity both as regards his art and his general conduct and mode of thought, and he is absolutely loyal in his sentiments to this country. We believe that it can only serve the national interest for a man of his calibre to have free intercourse with the citizens of this country.

1. According the the headed notepaper, VW was a patron of the Council from which the letter was sent (or possibly just of the Tea Time Concerts), and Karpeles was the Secretary. Müller-Hartmann had been interned as an enemy alien on the Isle of Man.
