Letter from Gustav Holst to Edwin Evans
Letter No.: VWL886
St Paul’s Girls’ School,
Brook Green, Hammersmith, W,6.
Dec 23 [1930]
Dear Evans
Yr letter of the 12th has only just reached me. Would you send everything to the above address? I am delighted with the scheme and am writing to the secretary to give my cordial support.
I hope you will rope in Penelope Spenser.1 I hope this for several reasons – partly because I’ve seen her in ‘Baedeker’.
When the scheme develops and you need members I think I know of a few recruits – my daughter Imogen for one.
Yrs Sincerely
Gustav Holst
(I shall be back in London on Jan 2. I left Gunterstone Rd some time ago).
1. Penelope Spencer was a dancer who is remembered for her modern approach to free-style dancing and choreography. This letter is apparently in connection with the Camargo Society.
