Letter No.: VWL3709

December 31st, 1957.

Dr R. Vaughan Williams, O.M.,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
N.W.1.

Dear Vaughan Williams,
Thank you very much indeed for your generous encouragement and support for the proposed celebration of Rutland Boughton’s 80th Birthday.
Adolf Borsdorf has gone down to Newent to-day to visit him, and will discuss the whole matter with him and find out what his wishes are regarding the suggested dinner, and later on the proposal to produce one or more of his operas.  He will return to town to-morrow, and will then go into the question of the costs of producing the opera or operas.  Borsdorf will be writing to you on the whole question during the next week or so.
Steuart Wilson has already been written to about it, and has replied in full support.
Yours very sincerely,
