Dear Mr Sheppard
Your wonderful parcel arrived yesterday1 – most skilfully packed & in perfect condition – You could not have chosen every item more welcome – we send you our grateful thanks.
I am glad that the music outlook in Cape Town is good. What share do you take in all this? I must have expressed myself badly if you thought I was under the impression you were S. African for that thought never occurred to me.
I must apologise that I could not read your Xtian name – all the rest so clear. I hope you are satisfied with life in Cape Town –
All good wishes from us & again many thanks
Yours sincerely
Adeline Vaughan Williams

1. See VWL4359. This was the first of many parcels which the Sheppards sent from South Africa (during post-war rationing) to the VWs.
