The White Gates
March 14 [1944]
Dear Martin
Thank you for remembering to send us a photograph of Sergeant Shaw. I think it is delightful, and now Ralph has met her and tells me she is that and much more.
I don’t know if you will ever trust yourself to us again. I should like to hope you may for your visit was a refreshing event. I can only think of the word, a benediction.
If a very small packet finds its way to Hogwells it is to solder your saucepans and kettles.
Our love to you both
Adeline V.W
