Letter from Adeline Vaughan Williams to Marion Scott
Letter No.: VWL3234
13 Cheyne Walk
Tuesday [1930s]
Dear Miss Scott
It is disturbing – We have been talking over your letter.
Does Mr. Lidderdale realize the change in Ivor?1 My husband thinks that if he does & if he considers this change only a stage in the cure & what he expects then we had better let him go on for the present – Only we cannot let Ivor suffer from the attendants – I think this is the first time he has complained about them in a letter? Would you like to suggest to Mr Lidderdale to interrupt the treatment & see what he says – Tell him the difference there is in Ivor – You do not mention if Ivor is getting out of doors – that might partly account for more energy? The good fact is that the pains in his head are better.
Thank you so much for writing – I hope we may manage to go & see Ivor before long. I had not heard you were ill I am so sorry
Yours very sincerely
Adeline Vaughan Williams
1. Ivor Gurney, the composer, who was suffering from mental distress and was in a psychiatric hospital.
