Letter from Adeline Vaughan Williams to Gerald Finzi

Letter No.: VWL1077

The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

Friday night [?11th August 1933 ]

Dear Gerald

Ellen has brought this enclosed information from the Registrar.1
The 15 days residence demanded applies to you only – or to Joyce only.  This is the official side – what one wants to know is what the unofficial side is!
“Of course the gentleman could spend his day in London on business and return to Dorking every evening”.
R thinks that you sd go through the formality of renting a room in Dork[ing] tho’ how far it is necessary for you to be there no one can say!
Yrs

1. See VWL1076 – where AVW says that Ellen has been on holiday but that she will send him the information very soon. The 11th would be a week later – about the right interval. The Finzis were to get married in Dorking.
