My dear Diana

I know that Uncle R is going to write to you – He is still hopeful about getting to Gloucester.1 We shall know more definitely tomorrow. The situation has changed for the surgeon opened up the ancle2 again on Sunday & the wound is not allowed to heal yet. To me it seems an impossibility – or nearly that – that he should be travelling and standing in a week’s time. Your suggestion of fetching him was perfect – but it is all too uncertain. What was definitely certain was that you would have to come the day before & sleep here.
But anyhow I would see that he went by road if that was best. I can’t believe he ought to go tho’ I want him to so much.
Love

AMVW.
