Letter from Adeline Vaughan Williams to Cordelia Curle
Letter No.: VWL4679
Thursday morning [1 August 1946]
Belov Boo
I may with luck hear from you tomorrow.
Last night was beautiful. The L.S.1 was so like R – The string passages expressive as no other ever makes them. I sat with a score & our wireless excelled itself – and when 10 o’c came there was R! quite himself. There was a handsome applause for him – 5 times – All the Boult family were there – & of course Ursula in faithful attendance who saw him off from Vic2 with Peter Montgomery – just home from India (he was trained by Adam?)3
This morning R is making hay. The sun shines & he is going to have tea with Mrs Hornstein wh will be just the right touch after his strenuous evening.
