Dear Gerald
The exhortation1 was beautiful – & I thought well sung.
I like the obvious ones best – Ditty & When she sighed – though I like the apple man very much – though is he a bit too sinister?
I want to give a lecture one day on the English song – showing how you & Gurney & Robin2 & one or two others have at last found the musical equivalent of English poetry only that wd mean an intensive study of all your songs which my natural laziness boggles at.
