From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

June 27th 1953.

Dear Tony,

We read a very good account of the Concerto in the Times.1 Now, as you say, we must try to get a real public performance, but how to set about it I confess I haven’t the slightest idea.
My love to Ruth

And love to you both from the typist2

1. Scott’s Violin Concerto, which had been played through by Frederick Grinke and the Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra in a public rehearsal at Leeds Town Hall on 24th June 1953. It is noted in the archive of the music critic Ernest Bradbury, now at Leeds University, apparently with the actual performance on 25 June and a review [by Bradbury] in the Musical Times in August 1953.
2. i.e. from UVW.
