Farewell to Hugh
At our November Trustees Meeting we said a fond goodbye to Hugh Cobbe, the guiding star of the Foundation, who stepped down as a Trustee. Formerly Head of Music Collections at the British Library, Hugh was a close friend of Ursula Vaughan Williams and, at her request, became editor of Letters of Ralph Vaughan Williams (OUP 2008). Hugh was a director of RVW Ltd from 2001-8. He chaired the RVW Trust between 2008 and 2022, and was Director of the Vaughan Williams Charitable Trust, from 2008 to 2022. It was under Hugh's leadership that the Vaughan Williams Foundation was formed, merging the two trusts in 2022.
At the meeting, VWF Chair, Sally Groves, thanked Hugh for his generosity and leadership over many years.
